At the 14th Kashish International Queer Film Festival’s opening ceremony, renowned actress Raveena Tandon presented famous filmmaker Onir with the prestigious Kashish Rainbow Warrior Award as a magnificent show of respect and support. The big celebration of diversity, inclusivity, and the influence of movies took place on a star-studded evening in Mumbai.
The 14th Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival opened with the world premiere of Onir’s most recent movie, “Pine Cone,” which captivated the audience with its moving storytelling and important subjects. The movie examined the nuances of gay relationships, challenging accepted social mores and illuminating the LGBTQ+ community’s realities.
Given the joyous occasion of Pride Month and the current discussion surrounding same-sex marriage, the Kashish Rainbow Award has a special meaning for Onir. Onir emphasised his happiness when talking about the prize, saying, “This award is really significant, not only because it is Pride Month, but also because it is Kashish, and it’s important that this award of love occurred in My city… Mumbai. For this honour, I am grateful to Sridhar and the Kashish Film Festival. I’m in awe.”
