Early on Thursday morning, Bollywood actor and director Satish Kaushik, best known for his roles in Mr. India as Calendar, passed away at the age of 66. Kaushik’s wife and daughter are still alive. His friend, the National Award-winning actor Anupam Kher, tweeted to confirm the news.
Kher tweeted beside a black-and-white photo of himself and Kaushik, “I am aware that “death is the ultimate truth of this planet. Yet, I never imagined that I would write about my best friend Satish Kaushik while he was still alive. Such a swift goodbye to a 45-year friendship! Life without you Satish will never be the same! “Om Shanti!”

In addition to the mourning family and the soul of the deceased, Kher was not the only person to offer his sympathies. Kangana Ranaut, a Bollywood actor, too paid her respects to the seasoned actor-director on Twitter.
Kangana said, “Satish Kaushik, a very successful actor, and director, was also a very kind and sincere man. Woke up to this dreadful news. He was my biggest cheerleader. He was a blast to direct in Emergencies. We will miss him, Om Shanti, please. In the movie, which will be released in October of this year, Ranaut and Kaushik play former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and freedom activist Jagjivan Ram, respectively.”

The actor’s fellow director, Madhur Bhandarkar, who is best known for the movies Page 3 and Indu Sarkar, also offered his tributes. Bhandarkar claimed that the performer was constantly vivacious and full of life. He tweeted: “The death of actor-director Satish Kaushik ji, who was always vivacious, and full of life, has stunned me greatly. He will be greatly missed by the film community and his millions of followers. My sincere condolences go out to his family.”

About Satish Kaushik
Satish Kaushik was born in Haryana on April 13, 1956. Before breaking into Bollywood, Kaushik was a theatre performer. His roles in movies like Mr. India (1987), Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron (1983), Saajan Chale Sasural (1996), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998), Udta Punjab (2016), and Soorma (2018) made him popular.
Moreover, he appeared in Sharmaji Namkeen, Rishi Kapoor’s final movie, which was made available on Amazon Prime Video in 2022. The unconventional performer further received the Filmfare Best Comic Award for his roles in Saajan Chale Sasural (1997) and Ram Lakhan (1990).
Kaushik is renowned for directing movies like Tere Naam (2003), Dhol (2007), Kaagaz (1993), Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000), and Roop ki Rani Choron ka Raja (1993).
