Saira Banu, who lost her husband, actor Dilip Kumar, on Wednesday morning, was saddened when the late actor’s friends and family paid their tributes. Dharmendra, who was there at the time, has now disclosed what Saira Banu said to him.
In a tweet, Dharmendra uploaded a photo of himself with Dilip Kumar’s body and said, “Saira ne jab kaha. ‘Dharam , dekho Sahab ne palak jhapki hai’ Dosto , jaan nikal gai meri. Maalik mere pyaare bhai ko jannat naseeb kare. Dosto , mujhe dikhwa nahin aata lekin main apne jazbaat par qaaboo bhi nahin paata . Apne samajh ke kah jaata hoon (When Saira Banu told me, ‘Look Dharam, sahab has closed his eyes’, I felt heartbroken my friends! I do not know how to show off, but I cannot control my emotions. I just say what I feel like, treating everyone as my own).”

Earlier in the day, the Sholay star tweeted a photo of herself with the late actor “To lose my most devoted brother in the profession makes me really sad. May Dilip Sahab reach heaven. Jannat naseeb ho (folded hands emoji) hamare Dalip Sahab ko”
Dilip Kumar died in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday morning and was buried with state honors later that evening. Many celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and others, paid their homage to Dilip Kumar.
He was born Mohammed Yusuf Khan in Peshawar, Pakistan, in 1922 and changed his name to Dilip Kumar on the advice of actress Devika Rani. Dilip Kumar’s debut film, Jwar Bhata, was produced by Devika Rani’s studio, Bombay Talkies.
