Bollywood Hush is back with another throwback story. This time we will tell you how the veteran heartthrob actor Dharmendra would hide the alcohol smell while shooting with the evergreen Asha Parekh. The actor confessed that he used to show up at the sets by smelling of onions.
Dharmendra and Asha Parekh shared the big screen in the film Aaye Din Bahaar Ke. Recently, actor Dharmendra shared another gem of a story during a reality show. The actor was joined by veteran actors Waheeda Rehman and Asha Parekh on the Superstar Singer show.
While on the show, the actor shared another throwback story from his acting career from back in the day. The actor confessed that he is used to call Asha Parekh, Jubilee Parekh. Back in the day, every film of hers used to be a super-duper hit. He then finally got to work with her in the movie Aaye Din Bahaar Ke in the year 1996.
Bollywood Throwback:
While shooting for this film, Dharmendra opened up about how he used to eat raw onions to mask the smell of alcohol. The actor quoted, “We were shooting in Darjeeling, and after pack up, the producers and other crew members would party till late in the night. I would also join the party, and we would get drunk. In the morning, the smell (of alcohol) would be quite evident, so to hide the smell, I would eat onions,”
Dharmendra then revealed that Asha asked him why he used to eat raw onions. He then confessed that he did that to mask the smell of alcohol. To this, Asha asked him to stop drinking, and he did. And that’s how they became good friends. Now, Asha Parekh and Dharmendra are like a family.
