Scroll down to read Mrs. Undercover Review: Rating, Public Reviews, and all that you need to Know about the movie.
Mrs. Undercover Review:
She makes you laugh, plays a variety of roles deftly, and dispatches the bad guys without a hitch. Radhika Apte is back doing what she does best in Mrs. Undercover, a formulaic espionage comedy. She is very stunning in the role of the housewife-turned-spy, but after 1 hour and 47 minutes, I am a little letdown.
Durga, an undercover agent who has been posing as a middle-class housewife, is discussed in Mrs. Undercover. She is then asked to return for a mission. But when she neglects her role as an agent while carrying out her responsibilities as a housewife, a daughter-in-law, and a mother, things start to go awry. They view her as the team’s James Bond.
Durga finally decides to join the expedition after numerous persuasions and inspiring speeches, but the rest of her journey is pure comedy. With a touch of humor, Mrs. Undercover is all about feminism and women’s liberation. Mrs. Undercover is a surprising choice if you’re seeking a melancholy and powerful thriller drama.
Performances
This predictable spy comedy, which Anushree Mehta directed and co-produced, had a weak narrative that prevented it from being a memorable movie. The movie is not memorable enough despite its thrilling parts, the humor shared by Radhika Apte and Rajesh Sharma, and some expected plot twists.
The opening scene by Sumeet Vyas and Radhika Apte nearly saves the movie. Radhika strives to carry the movie on her shoulders and manages to do so while Sumeet ultimately falls short. Despite the fairly shoddy script, she was unfaltering.
We also need to discuss the roles played by Rajesh Sharma and Laboni Sarkar in Mrs. Undercover. They both attracted attention with their one-liners and imparted valuable lessons.
Direction and Script
You could assume that Anushree Mehta’s preference for the espionage comedy subgenre provides all the ingredients for a compelling watch. But Mrs. Undercover, despite her best efforts, fell flat.
The movie had an exciting beginning, but the climax was a huge letdown. With a powerful Navdurga dance with Radhika in danger, it is clear that Anushree was attempting to set up the climax. However, she appears to have opted to stop writing while concluding the novel after creating all the tension.
Where credit is due, the opening sequence is just mind-blowing and will make you shiver. This makes up for all the times you scoff at the story’s predictability.
Findings
We must admit that the producers made a wise decision to forego a theatrical release in favor of a major OTT streaming service. This spy comedy is not for everyone, but if you want to see something different but light, you should give Anushree Mehta’s film a shot. In addition, despite the haphazard plot, Radhika’s fascinating acting and her friendship with Rajesh Sharma make it enjoyable to watch.
