For novices, hearing celebrities of the calibre like AR Rahman or Priyanka Chopra Jonas discuss politics, bullying, and pressure in Bollywood gives them hope that an open environment can be created in which to express one’s sentiments and candid opinions. Actor Akashdeep Sabir, who will be featured in the upcoming movie Fateh with Sonu Sood and Jacqueline Fernandez, believes that while such things do aid newbies, one must comprehend precisely what they went through to have a deeper appreciation. He believes it would be better if both celebrities expressed what they went through more clearly.
Akashdeep Sabir says, “I have no idea what kind of harassment Rahman and Priyanka experience. They quickly advanced to the A-lister league and did not experience any significant adversity. Of course, it was their skill and diligence. However, they face politics, bullying, etc. Regarding that, I’m not sure. I’ve always had no problem speaking my mind, adds the actor who has also been in online series like Breathe, Broken, Main Monica, and The Night Manager.”
Actor Akashdeep Sabir:
In Bollywood, breaking into the industry is difficult, and maintaining a career is equally challenging. He answers, “It is, yes. Why should it be simple, too? If you succeed in this field, you may quickly become a billionaire. There are therefore enormous benefits for your talent and labour. Therefore, possess the talent and wait for the chance. When the opportunity arises, seize it and keep developing. It’s therefore simpler said than done. So, yes, it is difficult.”
Bollywood movies take a long time to produce, and there is no assurance that they will be successful. Additionally, everyone cannot afford to wait since there is too much competition. Akashdeep continues, “You have to wait. Patience is crucial in this medium. Additionally, we find it difficult to say “No” to tasks that don’t feel right because of our fears. Learning to say “No” is as difficult, as I mean. Give it time to work. That’s how the beast is, right? Nobody is aware of what fate has in store for you on that fateful Friday.”
OTT performers prefer not to be referred to as TV actors and prefer to avoid appearing on television. He replies, “Yes, I’ve seen it and I’m inclined to agree. Actors in films have begun to use OTT, but TV is different. Being time-bound, it is difficult for the actors and requires a lot of time. You must perform a specific amount of labour since episodes must be finished. Finesse cannot be used at this time. Thus, the term “small screen” is appropriate.”
A career in the TV industry:
Even while their performing careers are thriving, many aspiring actors are switching to production. Many people believe that having a secure backup plan benefits them.
He confesses, “Yes, sort of. Once you reach the A-lister level, your insecurities grow because you don’t want to lose your position at the top of the ladder. Thus, the desire to have complete control over everything, including the choice of the director, the co-actors, and the timing of the release…They want to make sure that everything is going according to plan. Therefore, their influence and control grow if they are the producers or joint producers. Additionally, because A-list performers command such large fees, it is frequently preferable for them to join the production team and share in the profits rather than adding their cost to the budget and weighing down the movie.”
When asked if TV provides stability compared to movies or OTT, Akashdeep delivers a negative response. The actor concludes, “I completely disagree. The hardest medium is television since actors have to do their work quickly and have no time to practise their performances in order to meet high standards. In reality, as we have seen, anyone who can do that on TV is quickly contacted for OTT or films. In addition, payments are higher for OTT and films than for TV.”
Akashdeep Sabir is known for directing movies such as Ghaath (2000) and Miss 420 (2014). So, this was all about the popular Indian filmmaker and actor Akashdeep Sabir.
