The 2011 Femina Miss India finalist Rakul Preet is eager to take the runway with lover Jackky Bhagnani at Lakshmi Manchu’s charity fashion show for her non-profit organisation Teach for Change. According to reports, the actress would walk down the runway looking stunning in creations by celebrated designer Varun Chakkilam.
Actress Rakul Preet Singh said of her attendance at the event, “Lakshmi is like family to me. Doing this for an effort that is so dear to her is incredibly rewarding for me. Her efforts are sincere, and she dedicates herself to this during the entire year in addition to putting this performance together. The annual Teach for Change charity fashion show is in its eighth year, and as I’ve watched it develop over the years, it’s very admirable. These children’s education is of a calibre that sets it different from other charitable endeavours. A vision is one thing, but putting it into practice and maintaining your position over time is quite another. Lakshmi never fails to inspire. In spirit, I’m just as much a part of this event as she is. I hope my modest contribution strengthens the initiative.”
Rakul Preet Singh & Jackky Bhagnani:
“Rakul is always my first option for the show-stopper.” Lakshmi continued. “When I boarded her, Varun was also quite enthusiastic. A thoroughbred professional with years of expertise on the ramp, Rakul is also my buddy, philosopher, and guide. Her appearance on the programme raises the stakes for everyone. She has backed this project almost from the beginning. So, I’m happy that she and Jackky are headlining for us this year.”
She doesn’t divulge much when questioned about her jaw-dropping ensemble for the evening other than the fact that she is still torn between two outfits, each of which she adores. Rakul also discussed how, over the past ten years, her fashion sense has advanced significantly. “I suppose my guiding fashion principle is to wear what feels comfortable and style things to seem edgier rather than truly following trends. I enjoy trying new things with my general appearance, and lately, I’ve been drawn to warmer tones and colour blocks.”
In addition to Rakul and beau Jackky Bhagnani, badminton players Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap, and a few more South actors will walk the runway, which will be hosted by actor-producer Lakshmi Manchu. Her non-profit organisation, Teach for Change, which aims to educate disadvantaged children throughout Southern India, will receive the fundraiser’s revenues.
