Actress Megha Chakraborty, claims that social media has provided people with a forum to showcase their talents. The network has, however, also spawned a natural need to be recognised for whatever users publish.
The actress opines, “Social media becomes a necessary component of our daily life. There’s no denying that people have started showcasing their talents on social media. There are occasions when videos with little talent get popular and others contact them for events, and finally, they have a career, whether it is cosmetics, dancing, tips, or singing. As a result, people have started doing anything to get approval. People also flaunt everything, including new phones, outfits, and other possessions. Everyone wants likes and comments, even me. As a result, social media is a part of our life. People have access to a vast platform where they can demonstrate and promote their skills without anyone’s help. But there are some drawbacks as well,”
Actress Megha Chakraborty:
Megha adds, “Every day, it generates stress for me. The temptation to post something every day, to try to capture every event on camera so that you can share, is having a major influence on our stress levels. I eventually feel compelled to post in between shoots at around 12 p.m. Timing is crucial because you are aware of when you have the greatest reach, so if I can’t do it at that time, I have to do it at 6:00 p.m. You start to worry about how many people are viewing and liking your posts. Everyone is feeling the pressure, and I can feel it,” she says.
The actress claims that Instagram surfing is becoming a habit and addiction for everyone and advises us to set time limits. She also admits that she has a terrible habit of scrolling and watching endless reels. Megha confesses, “Sometimes I feel under pressure to come up with new material for my reels. Even if you try to stop, you won’t be able to. There are moments when you are conscious that you are spending too much time on your device, but there is nothing more you can do so you keep scrolling. I am also accountable for the same unsavoury actions. I’m not sure what to do. Everyone is absorbed with their smartphones.”
Actress Megha Chakraborty continues, “Today, whenever we gather with friends or family, we film reels, and videos, and take pictures for social media. We produce a reel with each pose and the appropriate lighting. If they don’t post anything, they start vlogging about their travels or going live on Instagram. Everything you want to broadcast on social media starts with the very first thing you do each day and continues through every activity. I make an effort to manage it, but it is still there.”
