The filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is still basking in praises for his last movie The Kashmir Files. The controversial movie sparked many fires in the unitized and peaceful society. Now, the filmmaker has announced his next titled The Delhi Files movie. However, the public is not very happy hearing this. The Maharashtra Sikh association has released a statement saying, “Filmmakers should desist from disturbing the uneasy calm in society”.
For the unversed, the comments have arisen after the rise of speculations that The Delhi Files movie will feature the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The Maharashtra Sikh Association issued a press release expressing strong reservations against the upcoming movie. It stated, “Strong reservation against the exploitation and commercialization of unfortunate tragic chapters of humankind like the Sikh riots by people in the name of creative expression and personal profiteering”.

Reacting to this, Vivek Agnihotri said, “I have no idea which organisation is this. I am an Indian; Also, I live in a sovereign state, which gives me the full right to express myself in whichever manner I want. I will make what I need to make, what my conscience tells me to make. I am not a servant to anybody’s demands or organisations”.
In the statement, the association said if a film has to be made; it should be about “fostering unity, harmony, brotherhood, and national integration”.
